The Sedo.com GreatDomains Auction is wrapping up as I write this and it looks like watch.me is the highest sale that met the reserve at €20,000. Another interesting sale that met the reserve was hoard.com that sold for just over $4k, I think this one was a great buy.
There were many interesting bids that did not meet reserves including several .tv names. Here’s a list of names that did not sell but had considerable bids:
Goldshop.com $45K
Stream.tv $35k
Digital.tv $32k
Cable.tv $17k
Fr.tv and il.tv $9,999
Good to see so much action on these .tv names. I’m surprised that cable.tv did not see a higher bid than $17k. I think it’s at least as good of a hack or phrase as watch.me. I think that .me or .me sellers are doing their homework and getting buyers to the auctions or marketplaces. Remember business.me just sold for €40k. Watch.me, the highest selling name in this auction was also the only .me in this auction, coincidence?
“Watch.me, the highest selling name in this auction was also the only .me in this auction, coincidence?” <– that's not true, there was another .me domain in this acution: martin.me …
@meme – you’re right, thanks for the correction.
I wouldn’t take the “reserve not met” bids very seriously since bidders tended to place bids a bit lower than reserve on GreatDomains from the day Sedo started announcing the reserve ranges publicly. Which AFAIR, Sedo doing it from day one on GD.
@Sameh – Really? Do you have any evidence to back up these claims?
I used to report all GreatDomains auctions results back in 2010 on NamePros & DNF (username: EG.domains) so I watched almost all GD auctions back then. Also, in the next GD auction I want you to check the bids on domains with reserve within the first 24 hours of the auction start. You’ll see that almost all domains with reserve will receive similar bids to the ones you reported above ($9,999, etc..).
