Last week Patrick Ruddell of ChefPatrick.com had a video chat session on GoDrops.com a domain drop listing service. Although I missed the video session it must have went well as Patrick announced today that he has become half partner in GoDrops.com. Jason Cupp, the original founder of GoDrops.com launched the domain drop listing service in the summer of 2008. GoDrops.com was different because it aggregated domains and posted them in a live update using a script on it’s site. Shortly after it’s launch, GoDrops implemented a chatroom where users could comment on the drops and interact with the Jason the site operator.
I originally heard about GoDrops.com on NamePros.com, I remember Jason (aka NP member Standout!) promoting his site. At one point I was checking the site daily when the lists were released live, I’ve registered and sold a couple of names that I found thru his free service. I know Jason has done lots of networking and work on his site scripts to get GoDrops.com to where it is today but I haven’t yet utilized the membership service. Patrick said in his blog post today that we can expect to see a site redesign and $9.95/mo premium service that gets pre-released lists among other perks, Chef also hinted at a better yearly rate.
I noticed today that Domain Subway, Patrick Ruddell’s domain holding company is the new administrative contact for GoDrops.com when I check the registrant info while Jason Cupps remains the technical contact. I would like to wish both Jason and Patrick the best of luck with GoDrops in the future. It’s a recognizable brand with lot’s of potential in the drop list space.
Great summary here Mike. I love hearing about partnerships of this nature, especially in the domaining industry. I wish them both success in this venture.
Thanks for writing about the partnership Mike. Jason and I are very excited about the things to come.
Good luck Patrick,
I am sure you will be succesfull on another challenging venture!
