“The single case, heard by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO)’s arbitration centre, transferred 1,519 domain names to the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), refusing to transfer just 10 of the names. The hotels group had withdrawn claims relating to 13 other domain names.”
The case was brought against German resident, Daniel Kirchhof by multiple complainants, all of which are founded under the IHG trademark. Since they all share the same trademark they could pursue the domains in one case against the defendant. Of the domains in question only ten of them were found not to infringe on any IHG marks. Mr Kirchhof apparently owns some 70k domains in his portfolio. View WIPO Ruling.
I just looked at those. He deserved to lose them all.
They were all like Holiday-Inn-Ontairo.com, or something similar.
Total TM violations…..no question about those.

The IE domain itself is a restricted domain in that only applicants who meet certain criteria may register this name. The two main requirements are: Being based in Ireland or having a strong link to Ireland (both northern and southern Ireland).
wow! It has been a long time since I have heard somebody talk about WIPO Decision Rewards IHG 1500+ Domain Names with such passion. I didn’t quite understand everything but the passion flows throughout the and it is amazing to see someone be so in depth about something. I can feel it.
