Received My First Adsense Check Today

I didn’t scan a copy for proof because I tore it in half thinking it was junk mail. 🙂  The check came in a plain white envelope with no markings on it, good thing I peeked in to see what it was!  Although my adsense account is almost three years old, I’m not embarrassed to share that I finally got over that $100 payment threshold.  The first two and half years I only used adsense on a couple sites I built from code.  It wasn’t until late last year when I started moving several domains away from platforms like parked and sedo and started using Noomle.com parking/minisite monetization system.  Here’s a writeup I did on Noomle in Jan.  Unfortunately, I have failed at my goal of having 100 noomle minisites up by summertime otherwise I am pretty sure my next check would have been coming in July.

Most of the domains that I build into monetized sites from here out will have some sort of Google adsense ads on the page.  I am also trying out affiliate ads and testing out some lead generation/cpa possibilities for websites of mine.  I’ve been reading/watching lots of material from Morgan Linton lately on affiliate marketing and lead gen, he’s published tons of great info on these topics.

Now that I have a whole $108 dollars from the ‘Big G’ … how do I spend it?

  • Congrats! I am almost at mine too! I have been doing a few minisites with eBay partner network now that they also pay per click. For product related sites it works great.

    I would buy… more domains 🙂

  • Congratulations,
I am still waiting to get my check from them but sincerely said I haven´t used them much in the past years, have them only onto a few websites but hopefully that will change soon 😉
As for the amount, I would invest that one into something different than domain names or just save it for the next holidays.

    Cheers

  • Thanks Brian and Christoph! Yeah, maybe I’ll just frame the check.. then I’ll have it for a rainy day 🙂 It’ll have more character with the tape.. lol

  • Kinda of funny you ripped it in half. Sometimes I get random checks from affiliate programs I have forgot about or the payment threshold is pretty high. Also, the programs many times just take forever to pay out. Anyways, congrats and I am sure your next check will be much higher.

  • Congrats and I believe my first check will be arriving any day now. I started developing March 2009 and most of 2009 the earnings were minimal but in recent months earnings have picked up sharply as the PPC on some GEO sites has averaged close to a dollar. I’ve also noticed that by placing a block high on each content page (not the margins) the CTR improves. CTR for Adsense for Search is much higher than Adsense for Content but the PPC is much lower – not sure why as it would seem the advertisers wouldn’t vary dramatically.

  • Congrats, now use the funds to renew your domain names. It’s a good way to put the money back into your business.

You can set it up so that they direct deposit it to your bank account, instead of waiting for a cheque. If you start getting monthly payments you may want to do that.

  • The parable of the mustard seed comes to mind…tiny seed, grows into BIG tree. Congrats and keep building.

  • Get it when you can. Adsense shut me down for no reason. I received about $150 every 2 month. Did nothing wrong and they suspendet my account.
Now I am on whypark and make double the money inthe first week.

They can shuff it up their a………s!

I wish you all good luck!

  • Congratulations! Hopefully I’m not too far behind you, expecting to exceed the threshold within the next couple of weeks. Keep up the good work!

  • Thanks Fromainer! Cheers to bigger payouts and better monetization tools on the horizon…
