Poll: Will DomainName.com Sell?

DomainConsultant.com will be auctioning DomainName.com today (8/31).  Auction opens at 10am EST and will conclude 3pm EST.  The starting bid price and reserve is $1 million.

Will there be a $1 million bid?  Several bids?

Final selling price?

My prediction: As much as I would like to see this domain name sell I don’t see the auction starting at $1 million. I hope that you prove me wrong DomainConsultant! I think they have done a really good job of promoting the auction and are giving it a fair chance to sell. DomainName.com is a truly spectacular domain name and includes an active registrar and website.

  • thats a really high quality domain name, highly searched keywords and a big site, this surely gonna get some high bids.

  • Although it is a fine name, it will be tough to find a taker @$1mn !
if it would have been domain.com;$1mn would have been a real possibility,
but then , its not impossible,,

  • If this name is such an obvious and great deal, how come one of the gurus at domainconsultant didn’t buy it?

If Latonas traffic names were so great, how come he didn’t buy any?

These same brokers who keep pushing these “great” domains to retail are also very active buyers/ sellers themselves. So if the house passes on the deals, why should retail jump at the chance?

If these brokers fail to see their conflict of interest they are either too arrogant or flat out foolish

  • Thanks for the responses so far. @Domainbrokers – I understand what you are saying, but most of the top brokers make their money from being great salesman, not buying the best domain names.

  • Looks like a really interesting domain name for a site dedicated to the names. I would think that this name could very well be worth quite a bit, though I doubt a million, but very likely in the XXXX or higher range.

  • @sunken – thanks for the prediction, I would add a couple more zeros to your estimated range.. that’s just me though 🙂

  • @domainbrokers
Are you really a “domainbroker” ? This isn’t rocket science. If you are, I guess you’ve never done a deal and said “man if I was in this business I’d grab this name” or “If I had $1m this name is perfect” ?
Most brokers aren’t in the business to buy domains at “retail prices” …they buy like any domainer at a wholesale price. Real estate brokers operate the same way. The “house” doesn’t always have the funds to buy every deal and some people don’t want the broker to be the purchaser for conflict of interest reasons.
