I saw in DNJournal’s most recent report that the domain name Oracle.info was sold by the YummyNames marketplace for $1,377. Now the domain redirects to Oracle.com’s homepage. This was definitely a smart buy for Oracle the relational database management company. Other domains Oracle utilizes are Oracle.biz that also re-directs to the .com as well as Oracle.mobi, which is a fully developed website.
It’s a good sign that a company as large as Oracle used a smaller aftermarket provider for the purchase. I believe it’s very important for domain aftermarketers to establish honest, longstanding relationships with large corporate entities. While I was at it, I just had to check… Oracle.co currently does not resolve but it is registered to the Oracle corporation.
They let oracle.net lapse a few years back. I watched that unfold in disbelief as it slid out of redemption and into pending delete…..then buh bye.
Big #fail there. They lost it forever.
Hi Mark,
Thanks for the update, I had no idea that happened to Oracle.net.
I’m not sure about that, but couldn’t Oracle have obtained it with a copyrights lawsuit instead of paying ?!
Oracle is a generic word defined as “a person or thing which acts as an agent of divine communication”. This means Oracle Corporation would have no automatic trademark right to the word “oracle” IMHO.
