I turned on the TV this morning and it was on the Headline News (HLN) cable channel which is a branch of CNN. Before I could flip the channel to sports, a feature website on the Clark Howard money and finance program caught my attention. I heard someone say “the website has an unforgettable domain name” (or something along those lines) and I watched. The story was presented by Jennifer Westhoven from the Morning Express show and talked about the Universe.jobs website. Jennifer mentioned it was a great job resource, especially with high unemployment rates and the tough job market.
This was the first I had heard of Universe.jobs, so I checked it out. It looks like they own usa.jobs along with almost all of the state+.jobs domains. In addition, they also have lots of country + .jobs domain and for the countries they don’t have they have reserved two or three letter abbreviation +.jobs so that they cover the entire world with .jobs sites. Universe.jobs brings you to a map of the world where you can choose your continent, then more specifically country (and state if you click on the US). Many of the lesser populated country or abbreviation + .jobs sites are not active yet but there is a large database of jobs listings on USA.jobs and on the state and city .jobs websites in this network. As you get down to focus on cities within each state they start using subdomains ie.. http://denver.co.usa.jobs. This is a pretty cool service and I am glad to see some real development going into .jobs domains.

They would do much better using a career-related name like http://www.Occupations.Com, which seems to be redirected.
