Hoopology.com and it’s network of 800+ domain names has been awarded to NBA star Chris Bosh of the Toronto Raptors in a federal court decision. The portfolio consisted of almost all first and last name .coms of NBA players, prospects and other and famous people.
Winston & Strawn legal firm and Chris Bosh went after cybersquatter Luis Zavala for violating Bosh’s rights under the Federal Anti-Cybersquatting Consumer Protection Act and won ChrisBosh.com plus a cash settlement. Bosh, doubtful that Zavala would come up with the cash asked the court for rights to the 800 domains that Zavala had registered over the last few years instead. Zavala monetized the network of domains with basketball and other related advertisments.
Carmelo Anthony, Steve Nash, Amare Stoudemire, Hedo Turkoglu, Delonte West, Eddy Curry, Andre Miller, and a host of other pros and NBA prospects will be able recover their domain names for free from Chris Bosh thru his lawfirm. See full list
To help prove their case Bosh’s legal team said that Zavala was actively keeping up with the most talented young blossoming basketball stars and snatcing up their .coms any chance he could. Bosh is not looking to sell or hang on to any of these domain names, he just wants to give away the domains to their rightful owners. I give Chris Bosh credit for pursuing the hoopology portfolio instead of the hundred twenty grand that he was originally awarded. This gesture shows why Bosh is such a well liked person on and off the court. He has quite the following online as well which was probably one of the reasons he decided to go after ChrisBosh.com.

Damn, he had some pretty famous players names. That should teach a lesson to cybersquatters!
